This is Niko, and this is how he rolls: In the grass. In the mud. In the seaweed near the shore (he loves to swim). In the dirt. In fact, we think Niko has some sort of pathological aversion to being white and would prefer to be dirt-coloured. He is a middle-aged pit bull with traffic-stopping, ice-blue eyes for adoption through Red Hook Dog Rescue. Here is Niko’s profile. He must be an only pet as he is fearful/aversive to other animals, but he is such a cuddlebug he is all the dog you need! He is a shade under 60lbs, healthy, up to date on shots, neutered and BORN TO SNUGGLE. Mellow, medium/low energy. Non-destructive in the home. He loves fetch, and loves to swim. His dream adopter would be a single person or a couple with bully breed experience, with a fenced yard! Niko is in New York City at the moment but we will adopt throughout the Northeast/New England area.

Adoptable Fridays – Nutmeg and Josie
Nutmeg is a 4-5 year old Beagle who lives near Rockaway, NJ. She is being fostered through Eleventh Hour Rescue. She is a very calm, loving girl. Nutmeg loves going on walks, eating and getting hugs and kisses. She recently had a litter of puppies but is finally ready to go to her furever home. She gets along with other dogs although she does not play with them and seems to prefer the calmer dogs that do not crowd her.
Josie is an 8 months old mixed breed brindle puppy and currently weigh around 35 pounds. She is being fostered through Eleventh Hour Rescue. I won’t be a big girl and will probably weigh around 45 pounds when I’m all grown up. I’m currently in a foster home with dogs and kids. I am crate trained and housetrained. I was born in an abandoned house in Georgia. My siblings have all found homes, but I’m still waiting. My foster family tells me that they saved the best for last (that’s me!).
Adoptable Fridays – Brooks
Brooks is a 10 month old coonhound mix from the West Suburban Humane Society in Downers Grove, IL. He loves other dogs SO MUCH that when he pulled away on a walk and got lost, he decided to hang out with a pack of coyotes. He is happy to be “home,” because coyotes don’t have tennis balls! He knows basic obedience, walks well on a leash, and would love to live with another playful pooch.
Adoptable Fridays – Buster
Buster is a Boston Terrier fostered through Boston Terrier Rescue of North Carolina and lives close to Burlington, NC. He is 6 years old and huge love bug. His favorite thing in life is to burrow under blankets in your lap. He is the sweetest most gentle dog ever. Great with other dogs, not so much with cats. Please adopt Buster!

Adoptable Fridays – Hank
I thank my humans for rescuing me by eating screen doors, remotes and shoes. I also poop on the carpet. Repeatedly. I even stepped all over this piece of paper. Don’t let the soulful look fool you; I’m not sorry, and I’ll do it again. Love, Hank.
My foster parents think I am about a year and a half old. I was found by the Riverside County Animal Shelter and live in Fullerton, CA. Adopt me today!
Adoptable Fridays – Trulie
Trulie was rescued from Tennessee along with her four puppies. She now lives in Succasunna, NJ thanks to Eleventh Hour Rescue. The pups have all found homes and now it’s Trulie’s turn! Trulie is the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet – she’s a little shy at first, but once she warms up to you, she will be your best friend! Trulie loves snuggling (obviously) and even has a favorite yellow blanket. Help this pretty girl find a home for the holidays!
Adoptable Fridays – Minnie & Mickey
“We would rather pull our bedding out of the crate to sleep on it, even though our foster mom spends lots of time making us a cozy den. We really do appreciate the effort though. Love, Minnie & Mickey”
Minnie (female) & Mickey (short-legged male) are Jack Russell Terriers that were rescued from a Georgia puppy mill in October and now live in Statesboro, GA. They are both so sweet, not hyper at all, and enjoy having the freedom and space to do as they please…such as sleeping on a cozy bed outside of a cage. Each of them would make a wonderful addition to most any family. They are part of the Friends of Screven County Animals. Adopt them today!
Adoptable Fridays – Layla
Layla is what all black lab pups should be, a whole lot of energy and a whole lot of love. She has one weakness and that is foam…Layla is up for adoption in Atlanta GA through Fulton County Animal Services. Whenever she isn’t tempted by the wonders of foam she is a really sweet girl who would love a family to call her own. She is house broken and crate trained. She enjoys the company of other dogs and loves kids, and would make a great addition to an active family.
Adoptable Fridays – Delilah
Hi! My name is Delilah and I am an 7 year old Maine Coon Hound mix at the MaxFund shelter in Denver, CO. One of the volunteers there thought I could use a break from the shelter, so she took me to her condo in Breckenridge for a couple of days. I thanked her by pooping on the kitchen floor within minutes of arriving. After that, I was actually a very good dog. Being an older girl, my favorite pastimes are napping, belly rubs, watching the world go by from the deck, and leisurely walks. I’m also good at going shopping. I’m nice to all the sales clerks and will wait patiently outside the dressing room while you try on jeans, and will tell you if they make your butt look big. I also like going to the coffee shop and getting a puppacino (whipped cream in a sample cup). Yum! So if you are looking for a nice, quiet girl, please come to MaxFund to say hi!
