Adoptable Fridays – Nemo
Hi there! My name is Nemo, but you can call me Nemo the Disemboweler– it’s not shorter, but I prefer it. I absolutely LOVE toys and the more stuffing they have— the better. When I came into rescue with Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas, I was so completely bald due to demodex that DDRTX didn’t even know what color I’d be! Now my coat is growing in and I am SO happy to be alive! I am friendly, sweet, playful and good with just about everyone—though, I have to say that I like to be the king of the castle when it comes to other male dogs. I love to cuddle, go for car rides and give out kisses. I am goofy, silly, loving, desperate to please, very smart and full of life and energy. I am fully housebroken but I am working on personal boundaries because I like to be in the middle of EVERYTHING. I would do best in a house with playful dogs and I’d love to have an active family to play with. My foster people say that if you like the fine arts, you should SEE my ballet turnout! They say I am excellent at first and third position! If your household is looking for a new Principle Male—I could fill the position! Please come check out my profile here!!
NOTE: Due to home visit logistics, DDRTX only adopts to families within Texas.
The Destroyers
Caesar, Cicero, Hiram, and Brutus came to live with me when they were about 3 weeks old as foster pups (part of a litter of 13 dumped at the local animal shelter). No one ever wanted them so they are my boys. This was them at about 7 months old. Now they are a year old and about 70 pounds each. Through this year they have chewed and destroyed sheetrock, 4 pairs of shoes, fabric for a quilt I was making, seats on outdoor table chairs, footboard of a bed, telephone cord, computer mouse cord, no-line trifocals, lined trifocals, car bumper, flashlight, carpet in the back room (it is now just a dog room), numerous dog beds, azaleas, dwarf nandinas, mimosa, ,tablecloths, bedspread, miniblinds, mattress pad, garden hoses, soaker hoses, $100 electronic collar, new dog collars, and 7 chairs. They have also scratched up hood on car and throw up in car every time they have to go anywhere. They have torn down fences and have dug up huge areas of the yard. I still adore them.
Editor’s note: You are an amazing dog-mom! Keep up the good work!
I tear fluff out of my best friend
Every time we leave Lucy in her kennel during the day there is at least a small amount of fluff missing from her favorite thing in the world, her bed. Today she had a busy day of ripping out half the fluff in 4 hours time!
Ready for summer
I am so excited about summer, I ate my pool!
Betsy and Derby
We help take out the recycling.
Watson and his tennis balls
Watson likes to make me play fetch instead of the other way around. He hurls the ball as far underneath the couch as possible and starts growling. It starts off very quiet and gets louder the longer I ignore it. He always gets his way and I always retrieve the ball (like a good dog).
Charlie
Our naughty beagle. “I ate a sofa cushion”
The Spider
I came home to find that Otis had torn apart the fake plant.
Adoptable Fridays – Glennis
I like helping my skin foster sister clean and put away her wooden blocks…never mind the teeth marks and slobber.
I am HELPING!!!
Glennis is a strikingly beautiful petite female Boxer with a deep red and white coat. She was rescued from a kill shelter in the Rio Grande Valley, TX where she had been picked up as a stray. She’s now with a foster family in Austin, TX and is being adopted out through the Austin Boxer Rescue. Glennis is currently heartworm positive, but will be treated by ABR.
Glennis loves humans, children in particular. Glennis would prefer to be an only pet in her home, and has a high prey drive. Her foster mom describes her as a homebody who also does well in public. Glennis has very nice manners and takes direction well from anyone she views as the leader. She is housebroken and crate-trained and is currently learning to walk on a leash.
