Duchess is an extremely sweet pittie mix available in the Washington, DC area from Rural Dog Rescue. She’s older (about 7 to 9) but still has tons of energy. She loves to give kisses, play with her ball, and when she’s tired, plop down like a frog to the delight of everyone around. She has a sad back story – her owner couldn’t afford to keep her and ditched her at doggie day care – but all of us adore her and want to find her a loving home. Check out her profile at here.

Adoptable Fridays – Beasly
I destroyed my bed while my foster parents were not around, I want a nicer bed!
Beasley came into the shelter as a 4 months old male stray. He’s now 20 lbs, up to date on vaccines and preventives, will be neutered & microchipped next week. They live in Leesburg, VA and are being adopted out through Save The Tails Rescue.
Beasly is a gentle lil puppy, but will be quite large when fully grown. Beasley didn’t want to eat at first so the foster family’s 4 year old little girl hand fed him, he was as gentle as can be. He is great with kids and will be fine with cats. A home with another dog would be best for him, it will build his confidence to learn how to play from a little older dog.

Adoptable Fridays – Mitzi
My name is Mitzi and I am a German Shepherd available through the El Dorado County German Shepherd Rescue in Northern California. I am 2.5 years old and I have a lot of energy. I like to pass the day playing with my foster brother. I am great with kids and was raised with a baby and a small child. I have never been near cats. I do love to chase squirrels in the yard. I have a lot of energy and need exercise every day. I also like to play fetch, chase shadows, and go swimming. I especially like to chase the waves at the beach. I know sit, stay, heel, lay and my release word is “okay”. I cannot be trusted around compost, because I will eat it until I get sick. I do well off leash and like to keep my foster parents within seeing distance. Please contact the rescue if you are interested.
Editor’s note: The foster parents have reinforced the fence so she can no longer get to the compost.
Adoptable Fridays – Pearl
My name is Pearl, I am a Pit Bull / Boxer mix currently up for adoption. I am deaf so I can’t hear when my foster dad calls me or tells me to do things, but I am learning hand signals and also really love to cuddle.
I am up for adoption and the organization, 4 Paws Sake, that saved my life has lifted their 2 hour distance radius from Northwest Ohio to ensure I find my new forever home. For more information on Pearl, click here.
Adoptable Fridays – Cocoa
“Sometimes I lay with my butt on my hooman’s face! (I’m a pocket pup, so it’s okay)”
Meet Cocoa. She’s a sweet young pit mix from Detroit, MI. She’s estimated to be about a year old, and is a total sweetheart. If you’re looking for a medium-size dog, Cocoa is the perfect fit! This is as long and as tall as she’ll get. However, she needs to fill out a bit due to neglect. She absolutely loves adults and kids. Cocoa hasn’t had much chance to interact with other animals, but the little interaction she’s had has been good! She knows basic commands and is potty trained. She will be spayed and UTD on her shots before going to her forever home.
Cocoa is available for adoption through a wonderful family who helps save countless animals in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area. If you’re interested in learning more about Cocoa, please contact us directly.
Adoptable Fridays – Princess Diana
Princess Diana is a sweet, loving dog from Falls Church, VA. She is available for adoption through the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation. She adores people and likes to snuggle and give kisses.
“I must have snuggle time every day!” is her motto. You can follow Princess Diana on her blog.
Adoptable Fridays – Skylar
Skylar is a 6 year old neutered male Akita / dandelion mix from Shakopee, MN. I wasn’t sure what he was mixed with until – poof – one day he exploded like a fluffy dandelion. Skylar says he doesn’t mind being part flowery – weed and he is definitely not ashamed! He is somewhat shamed that he gets so excited when meeting people that he jumps, but he says he is working on that!
Please check out Skylar”s page at Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue, he will love you no matter what your shames are!
Adoptable Fridays – Wrangler
This is Wrangler, our foster puppy. He is very playful and just wanted to let me know how much he appreciated being saved from the pound by going potty in the house a couple times on his first night with us. He is doing better now though. He is available for adoption through the Cimarron Valley Humane Society out of Cushing, OK.
Adoptable Fridays – Gracie
“I peed in the kiddie pool at the adoption event. (Hey, it was outside.)”
Gracie had a pretty rough start and was found as a small puppy in one of the shelters with which we work in Fredericksburg, VA. She’s now with a foster family working for Bully Paws. She’s a little timid with new people, but once you win her trust, a beautifully sweet little girl emerges. She listens very closely to the people she loves and desperately wants to please them. She’s a very goofy girl who will fall over herself to beg for belly rubs and bounces around the yard. She loves hikes and will surprise you with her athleticism. She loves dog toys and if you keep them around, she plays with them and leaves shoes and other desirables alone. Once playtime is over, she is a great cuddle buddy. She is great with children who are mature enough to be patient with her and not tease her. Her favorite person at the moment is our 9 year-old daughter.
Despite her shyness around new people, she is great with her canine friends. She looks to the dogs in her foster home for social cues and is much more afraid without the companionship of other dogs. They’re the true key to her heart. Because of this, Gracie would do best in a home where she has a dog companion.
Gracie knows basic commands, doesn’t jump on people (unless they have a lap for her to snuggle on) and is working hard on her leash skills.
She is an absolute joy to have around. She makes me giggle all the time.
Adoptable Fridays – Elka (update)
Calvin first caught a glimpse of Elka when she was featured on Dog-shaming’s Adoptable Fridays. After trying other online dog dating sites like K9 Date and Puppy Mingle, Dog-shaming is where he found his quality mate. Thank you to Dog-shaming and PointerRescue.org for making this union possible.
