Oskar loves scouting for stale, rotting food scraps in the gutters and along the sidewalks in our neighborhood. He learned the “drop it” command but once he realized “drop it” meant he didn’t get to keep it… he started swallowing the found snacks whole before I can fish them out of his mouth.

Maybe take one of his other favorite snacks with you on walks so when he does drop it you can give him the better one instead?? Good luck with your “gutter gut”!!

Mine chews faster. Even. when. I. have. a. treat. No, not annoying at all.

My fat Min Pin does this ALL the time. I hate it, always worries me. Thinking about buying him a hannibal style muzzle to prevent it!

my dog’s pretty good about it, unless it’s a rotting deer leg that is

Forget the treats and play a game:
When pup has a treat or toy in his mouth tell him ‘drop it’. Pick it up, stand up, turn it over in your hand then give it back with tons of praise.
If you do this randomly every day then ‘drop it’ is not a threat because he gets 99% of his treasures back.
