Moxie, our six month old chocolate lab, has learned how to break into our house while we are at work. It’s obvious that she prefers my husband’s left flip flops to the right. I’m still looking for my left tennis shoe.
Too Funny!!! I feel your pain. I haven’t noticed if my Siberian Husky prefers one over the other…but he does prefer shoes over any chew toy in his box!
Our chocolate lab loved flip flops when he was a puppy! After I replaced several pairs for my son’s friends, I said they were responsible if they got chewed up. This too shall pass. He does look really sorry though 🙂
I would guess the way the left shoe either feels (fits?) into his mouth is better (perhaps the strap is more accommodating somehow), or maybe it’s easier to hold. But I would bet it has the most to do with which side of the mouth he prefers (needs) to chew on.
Oh, how I remember those lab puppy days… My lab, Mac, loved chewing so much he took down every single bush and tree in our backyard. Yes, every single one. Some were decades old and 2 stories tall. Didn’t stop him for a minute. Neighbors would watch him for entertainment. Once the yard was cleared, I just bought him tomato stakes, or 1″x 2″ boards. He’d gnaw for hours on those. Kept his teeth beautiful, not a spot of tartar! Cost me about 25 cents at the hardware store, so that kind of toy was right up my alley. Was a heck of a lot cheaper than my high heels, which he also loved.
I know this is an old post but I feel I need to share that my daughters dogs have chewed around 18…. yes 18 left footed thongs and a few other shoes also left footed. Then today I learnt from my neighbor that our old golden retriever has stolen 4 left footed thongs. There must be something in that. I thought that maybe because our heart is on the left side that the left foot might be more odiferous. The neighbor quickly quashed that idea as he said his heart was on the right side. So back to my pondering !

Maybe it has something to do with the way your husband sweats. Perhaps there is more scent on the left shoe. And Moxie looks sorry.

I was thinking the same thing. I might have that foot checked by a podiatrist.

My chocolate lab angus, is now 5. But, when he was a puppy he would only eat my flip flops. Must feel good on their teeth. Good luck! : )

maybe your husband could wear shoes with more chic… I guess that is what moxie tried to express 😀

No shame on that face! Dog kind of looks perplexed as to why you are displaying them. Cute doggie.

When my dog was a puppy she would always chew left shoes too. Luckly she’s grown out of it!

I have a lab that looks strikingly similar to Moxie. Her name is Tasi and chews up everything! Did you get her in San Diego?
