“I have three legs, two different color eyes, and I’m an oversized lap dog. Yet I am NOT ashamed. I am a proud boy looking for a great new home near DC”
Pierce, a blue merle and white Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, from Washington, DC. He is approximately 2 years old and is being adopted through Rural Dog Rescue. We think Pierce was born with 3 legs as we see no sign of injury and he was an owner surrender at a high kill shelter so we can’t imagine anyone spending that kind of money on a pet and then dumping them in a shelter. But don’t let this 3-legged dog fool you – he can run and play with the best of them. He loves all other dogs except Corgis for some reason… He loves everyone he meets and has such a great personality. He is an excellent addition to anyone’s home!

We recently adopted a 3-legged dog that was abandoned at the vet clinic on our overseas military base. He’d had a tumor on the leg and the military vet amputated it at the shoulder about two years ago. The owner received last minute orders and couldn’t take him, so he left the dog with friends, promising to send money to have the dog shipped to him. The friends never heard from the owner, and abandoned the dog outside the vet clinic after several months. The good news is that pet abandonment is punishable by UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice), so the owner(s) won’t get off lightly. He’s the sweetest dog, and our other dog loves him!

What a beautiful dog! I love my catahoula! I hope someone snatches this guy up. If I was closer, my girl would have a new friend!

Going to meet him this weekend and hopefully bring him home!!!
