Instead of stopping to poop like a normal dog, Bella will poop and keep walking, forcing me to play tug of war with the poop on the ground and her trying to keep going!
He looks a darling. I hope that you have seen the vet, however. It could be due to something that needs some attention (neurological, muscle functioning, etc.)
My dog used to do loopy loops of at least 5 times before he pooped. I got dizzy watching him finalizing his decision. He did the same routine before he would settle down on his bed for a nap or the night. Miss my buddy.
My Willis (boxer/mastiff mix) does what we call the “bear walk” he hunches over & walks while he poops. He also tends to make a poo circle around the lucky person holding the leash…just gotta love their quirks!
My dalmatian, Adele, does exactly the same thing. When walking her at home, not such a big deal. In places I need to pick up the poop she drags me along while I’m stooped to get it. Never understood it except, maybe, she’s afraid she’ll poop so much it’ll reach her butt. She’s 12, has no health problems and has done it since being a puppy.
This is too funny.
I have always been conscientious about bagging the poop. I babysat my sister’s Australian Shepherd (for 6 weeks)in January and he did the same thing. It was really hard to pick it all up when I walked him in the dark before I left for work. I am sure I missed some. (It occurred to me later that I should have gotten one of those headlights miners wear to see what is in front of them!)
My friend’s dear departed English setter would do that, too- he was lovingly referred to as “Walker, Texas Pooper.” Another friend’s dog would walk in a circle as she pooped– I called the results “Poop-henge”
LOL, my beautiful baby! She has always walked and pooped, or as Tiff here describes it, the “Bear Walk.” LOL! I love her to death. I try to get the bag out as fast as I can, and start picking it up right away, but I am never as fast as her BMs. It’s quite amazing. I think she just does it to laugh at me.
Glad to hear all this and know my black lab/retriever/German Shepherd is ‘normal’. We just got her and she’s nearly 5. Have had dogs for 40+ years and never ran into this, though ALL my dogs have had their own sweet quirks!!

She needs to get where she’s going. Lol

My black lab, Cashew, used to do the same thing. We used to laugh at that all the time! Cashew lived to be 14.
Lori
Our yellow lab would do that too!! Like she was just too excited going on a walk to stop for anything!!
Mike
Got places to go butts to sniff and places to pee
Suz
Thank goodness you pick it up, on our walks in the park with my three we have to maneuver around “fallen” poop way too often!

My yellow lab does the SAME thing!!! LOL!!

my labradoodle does the same thing, my golden retriever would do 3 complete turns before he took a poop. Gotta love them!!!!

My dog started doing this. It is annoying because she does it on the road, in the driveway, and recently in the house. We call her the Pez Dispenser!
